Funds Set Up For 5-Year-Old Whose Family 'Recently Suffered Tragic Event'

A fund has been set up for five-year-old Sofia Sugarman. The Grafton Police Association have pledged $1,000 to this effort.

GRAFTON, MA — A fund has been set up for the five-year-old girl whose family recently suffered tragedy in Grafton.

The Grafton Police Association has established a support fund for Sofia Sugarman (Connors). Anyone wishing to make a monetary donation to this fund can do so by dropping donations off at the Grafton Police Headquarters, 28 Providence Road.

Michael Sugarman allegedly killed his wife Kelly Sugarman, 36, early Wednesday morning at their home at 55 Worcester St. in Grafton, Worcester County District Attorney Joseph Early said. A Grafton policeman spotted the couple's young daughter outside on Route 140 at 6:11 a.m.

According to Early, the girl led police to the house, stating that "Mommy is sleeping. Mommy is sick." The girl is in the custody of Department of Children and Families.

Make all checks payable to the Grafton Police Association, which has pledged $1,000, and indicate in the note section “Sofia Sugarman Fund." All donations will go directly to the care and upbringing of Sofia.
