Police across the country are in a full-force manhunt in a search for Gregory Lewis, 26, of Southbridge, Massachusetts, who ripped his GPS unit off his leg and continued on a crime spree of robbery, rape, attacks and assaults that included North Carolina, Oregon and Colorado.
Lewis was originally arrested on Aug. 5, charged with sexual assault of a child under 14. On Sept. 15, he cut the GPS unit, which was court ordered, and left it in the front yard of the alleged victim before heading out of the state, according to police. On Sept. 23, he assaulted and robbed a woman, and on Sept. 25, he returned to his family home and violently assaulted, cuffed and robbed a member of his family. He then took cash, a gun and 200 rounds of ammunition, fleeing in a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee that he stole from a family member, said police.
