BOM and DOM...What Does That Even Mean?

The Real Estate industry uses a lot of abbreviations and acronyms. Here are a few that the average buyer or seller may not know.

Everyone that has ever emailed or texted knows what "OMG" means. But do you know what "DOM" stands for? How about "BOM"? Or "CTG"?

Real estate abbreviations are often used to save time and money. If they were not used, ads for a home could get quite lengthy. Usually a Realtor’s website will give a good description without the real estate abbreviations.

Here are a few you may not know:

APPLS - Appliances

BR - Bedroom

C-D-S - Cul de sac

C/VAC - Central vacuum

FHA - Forced Hot air

FP, FPLC, or FRPLC - Fireplace

FSBO - For Sale By Owner

HDWD - Hardwood floors

LIV - Living area

W/D, WD - Washer and dryer

WIC - Walk-in closet

UA - Under Agreement

CTG - Contingent (upon financing or inspection or other)

DOM - Days on the Market

BOM - Back on the Market

And our personal favorite... which we use a lot: SOLD
