North Shore Swim Club hosted their first swim meet of the short course season over the long Columbus Day weekend, using two of the team's six pools.
Saturday the team hosted 160 12 and under swimmers at the Shawsheen Technical High School pool in Billerica, the second part of the meet was held Sunday at the team's home pool for the past 17 years - Salem State University's O’Keefe Center pool.
Over the course of the two days, North Shore Swim Club had 168 swimmers compete including veteran swimmers Jordan (12) and Taylor Coan (10) of Marblehead, Ryan LeClare (10) Salem, Zack Michaels (14) of Marblehead, Alexandera Kartsounis (16) of Lynnfield, Susana Martinez (11) of Beverly. In addition to the veterans the team had many newcomers to the team participating in their first swim meet. Sofia Vatnick (9) of Marblehead, Anya Bachman (10) of Salem, Erin Survilas (9) of Melrose, Michael (14) and Katie Bartley (11) of Topsfield and Cameron Light (9) of Manchester-by-the-Sea.

All swimmers swam well, and are looking forward to the next meet in two weeks - North Shore Swim Clubs 15th annual Halloween Classic to be held at Salem State University on Oct. 19-21. This is a big meet for the club, as well as the surrounding New England teams. It is also one of the meets that team looks forward to putting on as Salem is fun place to be and offers a lot of things to do for the families traveling down to the Witch City for the meet.
North Shore Swim Club is also accepting registrations for Session 2 of swim lessons, pre-team and competitive swimming. Session 2 starts Monday Nov. 5, 2012.
