When 'Yes' Means 'No'
Local Hamilton business advertises "special" then fails to deliver.
, a mainstay of the Railroad Avenue business district, has some serious lessons to learn about customer service.
For the past few weeks, they have had a big sign in their storefront window: PROM SPECIAL/Free eyebrow wax with Mani/Pedi. $45. So far, so good. Except that is NOT what was offered when a local teen attempted to take advantage of the offer in advance of Friday's Senior Prom.
When this teen called to make her appointment for this advertised special, it was explained as advertised, so she booked her time. She showed up at the appointed time and preceded to wait for for over 30 minutes. Strike one. When the manicure/pedicure was finally complete, the attendant began cleaning up.

" What about the eyebrows," asked the teen.
"Oh, that's not included."

"Umm, yes it is, the sign says out front says so. And I told the woman that's what I wanted when I called."
"Well, you have to indicate that in advance."
"I DID."
"Well, there is no one here that can do that, now."
If there was no one there, why didn't they make the appointment for another time or call the customer and let her know? Can you say "bait and switch?"
Teenagers are not the standard clientele for MaryBeth's, but that is no excuse to take advantage of them during prom season.
