Bucket Trucks Arrive in Hamilton for Streetlight Transition

They're around for a good reason that could ultimately save you money.

The transition to energy efficient streetlight light bulbs has begun in Hamilton.

Hamilton Town Manager Michael Lombardo told selectmen Monday night that bucket trucks have arrived in town to begin implementing the transition to LED bulbs. The town received a $250,000 grant from the state to fund the change.

Lombardo said that energy-efficient bulbs are expected to save the town about $34,000 per year.

He also said that once the new lightbulbs are all in place and operating, the town will evaluate whether the current lighting situation is appropriate for the location. Lombardo said that there are places in town where the current bulbs are over-sized for the location and use; those locations will be replaced with regular LED bulbs and an evaluation of the efficacy will take place at a later time.
