Crash Snaps Utility Pole, Closes Cedar Street
A one car crash on Cedar Street in Wenham on Tuesday evening closed the road while utility crews replaced a snapped utility pole.

Cedar Street in Wenham was closed on Tuesday night as National Grid crews replaced an utility pole that was snapped in half in a car crash.
The crash happened just after 4 p.m. near the intersection of Ramona Way, a small side street just east of Wenham Lake.
The driver of a sport utility vehicle that slammed into the pole was taken to by Lyons ambulance. His identity was not immediately available and his injuries were unknown but were not believed to be life-threatening. Rescue workers said he was out of the car when they arrived at the crash.

The SUV that struck the pole appeared to be heading east on Cedar Street at the time of the crash. The driver was the only person involved in the crash.
By 5 p.m. National Grid crews were on scene. The crash left the snapped pole hanging over the street with the wires just a few feet off the road.

had Cedar Street blocked at Wenham Lake on the east side and the had Cedar Street blocked at Cherry Street on the west side. Drivers were directed down Cherry Street.
National Grid estimated that less than five electric customers were without power and that it would be restored by 8 p.m.
