'Don Trump' Tombstone Among Decor At School Halloween Party
A Gloucester principal has since apologized for the display, saying the school is "not a place for politics."

GLOUCESTER, MA – A principal in Gloucester has issued an apology for a display at her elementary school's Halloween party that some say went too far. The Friday night "Halloween Happenings" event at West Parish Elementary School, hosted by the PTO, featured a game involving multiple tombstones. Among them was one that read "Don Trump."
State committeewoman Amanda Orlando Kesterson, who chairs the Gloucester Republican Committee, slammed the tombstone as "absolutely despicable" in a Facebook post.
"The parents or teachers responsible for this disgusting display should claim responsibility publicly and apologize publicly as well," Kesterson wrote, later adding, "Donald Trump is our president and he deserves respect. We should teach our children that the office of the president ALWAYS deserves respect."

West Parish Principal Dr. Telena Imel has since apologized for the display. In a letter to parents, she wrote that the tombstone "inappropriately brought a political agenda into what was designed to be a fun family affair."
"What saddens me most is that some of our families were understandably uncomfortable while attending this event," she said. "Our school, and this includes school events sponsored by related groups, is not the place for politics. In planning future events, it will be made clear to organizers that school is not the place to engage in or to display political agendas or opinions."
