POETRY 101
This class will examine the basic tenets of contemporary poetry and how they might best be used to startling effect on the page. We will examine line, rhythmic energy and repetitive sound in poetry that participants will write, as well as in poetry written by established poets. Basic instruction on form, reading poetry aloud and the use of figurative language will be included in class discussion. Writing prompts will be used in class and a significant amount of class time will be devoted to work shopping new work. Homework is optional, and poets of all ages and skill levels are welcome.
