Wenham Museum Home School Enrichment Program

Experience the traditional art of spinning and weaving by the retelling of Amasa Walker’s Splendid Garment.

Amasa Walker’s Splendid Garment by Emily Chetkowski combined with a series of hands-on activities.

Children will learn the process of dying wool and making linen; work with wool from carding to spinning in the museum’s 17th-century Claflin-Richard’s House and then weave at a back strap loom to make a bookmark or bracelet.
