The 5th grade class at Winthrop Elementary School in Hamilton will put on a musical performance of "The Castaways", Wednesday, February 15 at 9:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. in the school cafeteria, 325 Bay Road, Hamilton.
"The Castaways" is a historical fiction play based on the real-life experiences of the orphan train riders in the United States between 1854 and 1930. During this time more than 200,000 children who were homeless and living on the streets in large Eastern cities were put on trains and sent to live with families in the Midwest.
A collection will be made for Horizons for the Homeless after the performance.
