Firefighters Show Off Cooking Skills, Bake Special Cake at MDA Event
The Hamilton Fire Department took part in the Cooking for a Cure event for the first time this year.

Hamilton firefighters showed off their cooking skills this year, taking part in the Muscular Dystrophy Association's Cooking for a Cure event for the first time last weekend.
The annual cooking competition among local fire departments included 16 fire departments this year all going head-to-head with their culinary skills at Danversport Yacht Club. Each department enters three cooks to prepare a dish of their choice.
While the Hamilton Fire Department did not leave with any awards in its first year, they did get a "special thank you" for a handmade birthday sheet cake they made for a woman with MD at the event. Hamilton firefighter Sarah Spurr made the cake and was also responsible for the beautiful decoration.

In the end, the event raised $25,000 for the MDA.
Not long after the event was over, the Department battled one of the largest fires in several years in the town - a 3-alarm house fire on Cutler Road.
