Five Things to Know on June 6: Cooking Classes Get Started at Appleton Farms

Today is Thursday, June 6. Here are five things you need to know in Hamilton and Wenham.

1. Repeat: Thursday is shaping up to be very similar to Wednesday. There will be partly sunny skies and temperatures will get to about 70 degrees.

2. Seniors: Starting Thursday, senior citizens get 30 percent off at Ocean Job Lot in Danvers. The discount is for anyone 62 years old and older and runs through June 12. The store is calling it the “Silver Salute” week.

3. Culinary Workshop: Appleton Farms has added cooking classes to its growing array of programs called “Appleton Cooks” and on Thursday one of those first classes will be held: “From the Fields: An Early Summer Culinary Workshop.” It runs from 6-9 p.m. and is $75 for Trustees of the Reservations members and $85 for nonmembers.

4. Green Meadows: The North Shore Chamber of Commerce is coming to Hamilton on Thursday with a Professional Networking Reception at Green Meadows Farm from 5-7 p.m. There will be appetizers, drinks and music. The cost is $15 for members and $50 for nonmembers.

5. Trains: The Massachusetts Bay Commuter Railroad Co. is running a “Meet the Managers” program where managers for the company that runs the commuter rail meet with riders to hear complaints and answers questions. The meeting are scheduled at some major stations. One of the sessions is scheduled for Thursday at Back Bay station, but more importantly for North Shore commuters there will be a session at North Station on Wednesday, June 12 from 4-6 p.m. where riders can “discuss the overall service and respond to any questions you may have.”
