Generals Sports Roundup: Boys' Soccer Heads to Postseason After Ipswich Win

The boys’ soccer team will find out on Thursday its seed in the postseason after a 3-0 win over Ipswich to end the regular season on Tuesday.

Boys’ soccer:

Hamilton-Wenham, 3; Ipswich, 0.

Max Montanari had two goals to lead the Generals (8-6-2) over Ipswich on Senior Day for the Generals. Charlie Serpa also added a goal for Hamilton-Wenham, while assists came from Ian Kelley and Tyler Bussone. Seniors Luke Besse and Max Crystal teamed up in net for the shutout. On defense, Nick Fusco and Ian MacLean were rock solid.

At Tuesday's game, the team’s seniors were all honored - Besse, Erik Blakney, Chris Carlson, Crystal, Kelley, MacLean, Montanari and Serpa.

Volleyball:

Hamilton-Wenham, 3; Beverly, 1.

The volleyball team won its final game on the season on Monday over Beverly as the team’s five seniors were honored.

The Generals (5-11) were tied with Beverly after two games and then pulled away for the win. The game scores were 25-17, 14-25, 25-19 and 25-18. Middle hitter Keira McGrath had 15 serves with six aces and no misses, middle hitter Sarah Henkles had 22 attacks with nine kills and outside hitter Charlotte Horton had 22 hits with 10 aces.

The team’s five seniors were honored at the final game – captains Horton, Henkles, outside hitter Monica Keating and McGrath plus exchange student Marie Baretta.

Field Hockey:

Ipswich, 4; Hamilton Wenham, 0.

The Generals field hockey team fell to Ipswich on Tuesday in its final regular season game of the year to end the season at 2-10-3.

It was also the final game for all eight seniors who, according to coach Jeen Reagan, “will certainly be missed next season” - Suzy Balk, Robin Doroff, Grace Farnan, Julia Perkins, Jackie Roy and tri-captains Julia Dolan, Maddie MacCurrach and Lindsey Shaktman.
