Generals Sports Roundup: Field Hockey and Boys' Soccer Ties, Golf Wins

The boys' soccer team fought back to tie Rockport and the golf team convincingly defeated Amesbury in Generals sports action on Wednesday.

The boys’ soccer team fought back from a 2-0 deficit at halftime to tie Rockport 2-2 on Wednesday evening in Rockport.

Boys’ Soccer:

Hamilton-Wenham, 2; Rockport, 2.

Senior striker Charlie Serpa notched two second half goals for the Generals (5-2-2) to end in a tie with Rockport on the road.

The first goal came from a throw-in and flick-on by Max Montanari. Serpa’s second goal came off a cross from Andrew Kang.

“Charlie just out ran them and willed it off his chest,” coach Matt Gauron said about the second goal.

Other strong play came from Russell Gregorian at center midfield and forward Tyler Bussone.

The team next faces Georgetown at home on Friday afternoon.

Field Hockey:

Hamilton Wenham, 1; North Reading, 1.

Junior Liviy Ambrose scored her fifth goal on the year for the Generals (2-3-2) in a tie with North Reading on the road. The entire team had an all-around great game, according to coach Jenn Reagan. The team next faces Pentucket at home on Friday.

Golf:

Hamilton-Wenham, 14-1/2; Amesbury, 5 ½

Winners for the Generals (11-1) on the road versus Amesbury in match play on Wednesday were Luke Farley, Luke Drieze, Brian Nicoll, Joe Merrill, Jack Keegan and Spencer Bergholtz.

The team goes up against Lynnfield on the road on Thursday.
