Generals Sports Roundup: Girls' Cross-Country Stays Undefeated

The girls' cross country team stays undefeated, the boys' get their first loss and field hockey falls to Manchester-Essex in sports action on Wednesday and Thursday.

The girls’ cross-country team remained undefeated and the boys’ team sufferred its first lost in Newburyport on Wednesday.

Boys’ Cross Country:

Newburyport, 15; Hamilton-Wenham 42

The Clippers topped the Generals (3-1) in Newburyport on Wednesday with Matt Gillis as the top Hamilton-Wenham finisher in sixth place.

The girls’ cross-country team is 4-0 after grabbing the top six spots - Kerry Phelan, Meg Blatchford, Emily Weigand, Sarah Duffy, Claire Pacione and Emily Horgan - versus Newburyport at Maudslay State Park on Wednesday. Both teams travel to Warwick, R.I. for a meet this weekend.

Field Hockey:

Manchester-Essex, 4; Hamilton Wenham, 0.

Senior captain Julia Dolan put in a top performance for the Generals (2-3-1) in a road loss on Thursday. The team now has more than a week without a game before facing Newburyport at home on Monday, Oct. 3.
