Generals Sports Roundup: Tough Friday for Generals Sports

Both the boys’ and girls’ soccer teams from lost to separate opponents on Friday.

Field Hockey:

Georgetown, 6; Hamilton-Wenham, 1.

Senior Becky Balk scored the Generals (2-9-3) only goal in a loss to Georgetown at home on Friday.

Senior captain Julia Dolan had a strong game for Hamilton-Wenham on offense.

The team’s last game of the season is Monday on the road at Ipswich.

Volleyball:

Peabody, 3; Hamilton-Wenham, 1.

After winning the first game, the Generals (4-11) fell to Peabody in volleyball action at on Friday. The game scores were 25-23, 11-25, 16-25 and 19-25.

Excelling for the Generals were senior captain middle hitter Keira McGrath with 21 hits, including 11 as kills, and senior captain outside hitter Charlotte Horton had 20 serves with six aces. Sophomore setter Emily Thornburg also had a strong performance for the Generals.

The team next faces Beverly High School at home on Monday afternoon at 4 p.m.

Boys’ soccer:

Lynnfield, 4; Hamilton-Wenham, 2.

Max Montanari had two second half goals for the Generals (7-6-2), including one on a penalty kick in Hamilton-Wenham’s loss in Lynnfield on Friday. Montanari’s second goal, late in the second half, came on an assist from Russell Gregorian. Nick Fusco played well for Hamilton-Wenham on defense.

Senior Day for the Generals is Monday at home versus Ipswich at 3:45 p.m.

Girls’ soccer:

Ipswich, 3; Hamilton-Wenham, 1.

Hamilton-Wenham (4-8-3) lost 2-1 at Ipswich on Friday. Sophia Becker had the lone goal for the Generals.

On Saturday, the team plays Lynnfield at home at 2 p.m. It is a game rescheduled from Friday, after the Ipswich game was moved from Thursday to Friday because of rain.
