Girls Cross-Country Take All-State Title

The Hamilton-Wenham Regional High School girls cross-country team won Saturday's Division 2 all-state championship by more than a 2-to-1 margin over its closest competitor.

For the first time in five years, the Hamilton-Wenham Regional High School girls cross-country team won the Division 2 all-state championship.

The team "ran away" with the win on Saturday in Gardner, according to the Salem News. The team was welcomed back to the high school on Saturday evening with a police escort.

The Generals had 56 team points to second place Manchester Essex’s 115 points, reports the News.

According to the official results posted to Cool Running, top finishers for the Generals were sophomore Jeanine Zheng (7th, 17:18), freshman Olivia Horgan (16th, 18:00), senior Emily Horgan (27th, 18:15), freshman Amanda Burnett (30th, 18:25) and sophomore Megan Stone (37th, 18:33)
