Hamilton Selectmen Candidate Profile - Rosemary Kennedy

A series of profiles for candidates running for the Hamilton Board of Selectmen in the April 16, 2015 election.

As your selectman I will:

Conduct a cost-benefit analysis when considering Town projects and expenditures. We must look beyond immediate gratification and consider the long term impact on our taxes.

Advocate for a cost-efficient government in keeping with our small town requirements. Administration costs are rising at an alarming and unsustainable rate. We must control our spending, not raise our taxes.

Uphold the intent of our Town By-Laws in order to safeguard our citizens, preserve our community, and protect our drinking water. I will work to amend by-laws when necessary, using scientific and legal procedures.

Support smart growth to preserve our open space, maintain our quality of life, and protect our property values.

Ensure that CPC funds, a surcharge on our taxes, are utilized as legislated, and in a responsible manner that benefits our entire Town. Urgent repair and restoration of Town Hall is needed and should be paid for with CPC funds. The use of available CPC funds will prevent additional debt burden onto our citizens.

Promote government transparency by inviting citizens to weekly meetings about issues that affect us all. Nobody should have to ask “How did that happen?” Citizens have the right to be fully informed at all times.

Above all, I believe Hamilton is a unique and wonderful place to call home, and with your help, I will work tirelessly to preserve the character and integrity of our Town for future generations.

Thank you for your vote!
