Each day last week, there were more and more residents who entered the building to conduct business. All week, town staff continuously adjusted their activities to maximize the effectiveness of the safety measures. During the last two weeks, town employees – with guidance from the state and Hamilton Board of Health – have undertaken several improvements to Town Hall. The changes were designed to help residents and employees feel more safe and secure. There are new signs and protective shields, as well as new policies governing access to Town Hall. A few areas of Town Hall are now restricted to the public, but the staff remains at their posts to serve the community’s needs.

All members of the public entering the building should maintain proper social distancing protocols and have a face mask with them. Town employees’ work stations are fitted with protective shields, and employees will wear face coverings when interacting with the public in the performance of their duties. For the past several months, the town used an enhanced cleaning and sanitization program. That program will remain in effect for the foreseeable future, with a particular focus on high touch areas, including door knobs, handles, and countertops.

It is important to note that the reopening of Hamilton Town Hall does not mean the Library, Recreation Center or Senior Center are open again. The town will continue to follow state guidance and the advice of the Hamilton Board of Health in determining when and how to reopen those facilities. Residents should stay alert for new announcements about the resumption of activities in those buildings. For anyone who still does not feel safe entering Town Hall, any town staff member can be reached by telephone or through the town website.
