HWRHS alums hiking the Appalachian Trail for American Foundation for Suicide Prevention
Danielle Carp and Hannah Chmura will be "Hiking Miles for Smiles". They need your vote to win the 2016 Badger Sponsorship!
On April 7th, 2016, Danielle Carp and Hannah Chmura (HWRHS Class of 2011) will embark on a 2,180 mile trek from Georgia to Maine to raise money and awareness for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention- an important cause that is close to their hearts. They aim to raise $3 for each mile they hike in honor of loved ones who battled and are battling depression. The name of their fundraising campaign is “Hiking Miles for Smiles”.
Hannah and Danielle have been teammates for nearly two decades- from youth soccer to being captains of Hamilton-Wenham’s varsity soccer team. They understand how to communicate efficiently and push each other to their limits. Their hard work and determination doesn’t stop on the field. Off the field, Danielle and Hannah were active in student council throughout high school- Danielle as Vice President and Hannah as Class President. Their ability to effectively set and achieve goals will surely translate to success on the Appalachian Trail.
Having recently graduated from college, their finances are less flexible than ever. Hiking gear is expensive, but it is necessary that they have top-notch gear to last them all 2,180 miles. Now pay attention because this is where you come into play! The ladies created a 90 second video submission in hopes of winning the 2016 Badger Sponsorship- an incredible opportunity to receive $10,000 in gear. This morning, they found out their video was one of the 12 finalists! They need your vote to win!
