All four firefighters completed a 220-hour course this month which began in August and gave the firefighters "six months of real hard work," Blanchard said.

Bartlett and Comeau have been on call for the Wenham Fire Department for about a year and completed the first available class at the academy, Blanchard said.
The Wenham Fire Department has a full complement of 30 on-call firefighters and two full time officers, the chief and lieutenant.
In Hamilton, Allender was introduced to the fire service by recently helping deliver a baby, Stevens said as the pair was introduced to the Board of Selectmen at .
Stevens said both Curran and Allender are both well on their way to being certified Level I and II firefighters and still have to complete the "live fire" training.
"These guys finished way above the average of the class," Stevens said. "They are a welcome addition to the department."
