Lakeview's 6th Hole Is The Most Surprising On The Course
Another in a look at nine fun, interesting, picturesque or difficult holes at local courses.

Hole: 6th
Course:
Location: Wenham
Par: 4
Yards: 229 (blue tees); 153 (white); 194 (red)
If you have never played a course before, all you have is the scorecard to try and figure out how to navigate a hole. And, obviously, a piece of paper usually doesn’t do the special holes any justice.
It is no secret that Lakeview Golf Course is a simple, straight-forward layout that has occasional challenges but rarely any surprises. That is until you hit the sixth hole.

It is a relatively short par 4 that is a dogleg right, but you are forced to lay up with a 125-yard shot or you will find yourself amongst the large pine trees straight ahead from the tee. You better hope you are short because those pine trees line the left side of the hole and any chip shot is sure to hit a branch leaning over into the fairway.
If you decide to smack it over the woods on the right you take the chance of either landing it in the marsh along the right side of the fairway, or if you hit one of those trees you could find your deflected ball in the reeds and weeds in front of the tee. Of course being a dogleg you don’t know where you are aiming for and you will not know where you landed until you get onto the fairway (hopefully).

There are no traps around the small green but that is a welcomed relief with all the other hazards before getting there.
