Man Taken Away in Helicopter After Impalement
A man suffered serious injuries from an impalement and had to be taken away in a medical helicopter that landed at Patton Park on Monday afternoon.
A man had to be taken away in a medical helicopter after his arm was impaled by a pole on Monday afternoon.
Hamilton Fire Chief Phil Stevens said the call was to a home on Moynihan Road where the pole “went up through his arm.” The person, who was not identified, was doing work on his own home, Stevens said, and it was not a contractor that was injured.
He was taken by ambulance to Patton Park, where the medical helicopter landed.

The man who was taken in the helicopter was the only person injured, Stevens said. Anytime a person suffers serious trauma a helicopter is called, Stevens said. In recent years, MedFlight has been called to the park for a painter who fell off a ladder and a person involved in a serious waterskiing accident, for example.
Stevens, who was at Patton Park when the helicopter landed, said a baseball practice was cleared from the feild for it to land.
