Mastrocola and Thissell Latest to be Recognized at Middle School

The Hamilton-Wenham Rotary Club has awarded its two latest outstanding accomplishment certificates to Miles River Middle School students Gabby Mastrocola and Amy Thissell.

Mastrocola, an eighth grader, received her award for Academic Excellence and Thissell, a seventh grader, was recognized for Citizenship at the Rotary’s weekly Friday breakfast meeting on March 1 at the Community House of Hamilton-Wenham.

Mastrocola’s teacher wrote: “Gabby is a really good kid from my vantage point. Good student; asks appropriate, relevant questions; has a positive attitude and is dependable. Her Civics assignments are always well done and carefully thought out. Her hard work and steady efforts shine through in her high quality work.”

Thissell’s teacher submitted the following: “Amy is a kind and helpful student. She feels a sense of responsibility toward her peers, and will offer assistance any time it is needed. She is also a conscientious student, as she clearly puts a lot of effort into producing high quality work. Her participation enriches the class discussion.”

In addition to the certificates, pictures of Mastrocola and Thissell will be put up at the Miles River Middle School. Rotary has also provided a wall plaque at the school on which their names will go along with those of past and future winners.

Outstanding Accomplishment awards have been given in the past for leadership, good citizenship, excellence in the performing arts or extracurricular activity, sportsmanship, most improved academically and academic excellence.

The Student of the Month program is a joint venture between the Hamilton-Wenham Rotary Club and the Miles River Middle School. Catherine Frost coordinates this program at the middle school and Tom Ackerman oversees it for Rotary.
