Montserrat’s Improbable Places Poetry Tour at Green Meadows Farm in South Hamilton, MA on Sept. 18

Montserrat College of Art's FREE Improbable Places Poetry Tour on Sunday, Sept. 18 (3-5pm) at Green Meadows Farm in South Hamilton, MA

Montserrat College of Art’s Improbable Places Poetry Tour will kick off the fall season with a night of poetry on Sunday, Sept. 18, 3 - 5 pm at the Green Meadows Farm, 656 Asbury Street, South Hamilton, MA, a fertile CSA with a rich history dating back to the 1700’s. The event is free and open to the public and will include samples some of Green Meadows’ produce.

“The theme is HARVEST/MOON,” said Montserrat’s Writing Studio Director Colleen Michaels, “and will feature poems that tell the story of place and time: farm-to-table, harvest work and hearty crops. Poems about longer nights, Samhain, wax on about a waning gibbous. Come early for dinner on the farm - bring a blanket and a picnic at 3pm. We will start the event with music and the poets will take the stage (well, climb up on a bale of hay). Cue that Neil Young song. Did we mention there’s music too?”

For more information, please contact Michaels at colleen.michaels@montserrat.edu or 978-921-4242 x1277.

The Improbable Places Poetry Tour is Montserrat's way of bringing together local poets, area businesses, student writers and enthusiastic listeners to celebrate the power of poetry and community. At each tour stop a new venue and theme is selected. Tour stops of the past have included tattoo parlors, laundromats, swimming pools and the recently decommissioned and iconic Footprint Power’s Salem Harbor Station in Salem, MA, built in the 1950′s.The massive turbines were quiet, but poetry spoke loudly to the power of work and the work of power.

Montserrat College of Art is a small, private, residential college of visual art and design, founded in 1970, by artists, for artists, educating the creative problem solvers of tomorrow. The college offers the Bachelor of Fine Arts degree, continuing education classes and three galleries exhibiting works by international, national and regional contemporary artists, intended to offer art education beyond the Montserrat classrooms through a series of public lectures, gallery talks and events. www.montserrat.edu
