Music Students Host Used Instrument Drive to Help Music Programs In Need

Gordon student launch initiative to collect used musical instruments at a charity event on Saturday, May 6 at 7 p.m.

Undergraduate music education students Chris Molinaro ’17, Faith McKinley ’19, Rebecca Reed ’17 and Sara Zahorodni ’18 serve as board members for Gordon’s Collegiate Chapter of the National Association for Music Education. In an effort to empower collegiate students to advocate for music education and make quality music education accessible for all, the students have developed an initiative to collect used musical instruments at a charity event taking place Saturday, May 6 at 7 p.m. in the A. J. Gordon Memorial Chapel.

Any instrument donated during the event will be repaired, refurbished and delivery to school music programs in need. The Instrument Drive will take place during the Annual Gordon College Department of Music Pops Concert, featuring the Wind Ensemble and Symphonic Band and admission will be free. Broadway show medleys, marches, and lighter classical music will be performed to celebrate the spring season. The
musical instrument donations can be donated in the lobby of the Chapel before or after the concert.
