North Shore Man's Body Found Along Crane Beach Shoreline

Police said the man was last heard of on his boat Sunday night. Strong winds have created unusually rough waters in the area.

IPSWICH, MA — A local fisherman found the body of a Rowley man in the surf along Crane Beach Monday morning. Police identified the victim as 46-year-old Sean Maney.

The fisherman notified police of the body around 7:30 a.m.

Maney was last heard from alone in his boat Sunday night, police said. His boat has been investigated. The boat's dinghy was found by a U.S. Coast Guard helicopter stuck in mud in nearby marshland

The death is being considered an accidental drowning, but will be investigated by Ipswich Police and the Essex County District Attorney's Office.

Police said high winds Sunday and Monday created unusually rough waters in the Plum Island Sound area, including the mouth of the Ipswich River and the waters off Steep Hill Beach and Crane Beach.
