Our View of Working with Richard Boroff

We have read the letter posted by Jay Burnham and others about Richard Boroff and think it’s important to offer a differing view of Richard as a person and candidate.

The statements made in Jay Burnham’s letter do not reflect the man we have come to know on the Planning Board. Richard has served admirably on the Planning Board for the past two years. He rolled up his sleeves and done excellent work as the Board toiled to re-write the zoning bylaws to make them easier to read. He has also given careful consideration to the other issues we had to decide. He is a very detailed person and his input has been particularly valuable to the Board.

He has also been a pleasure to have on the Board and been very personable and accepting of others’ opinions. We have not always agreed on the issues we had to decide, none of us do. We all have different perspectives on things. But we feel he has always listened to our perspectives and given them fair consideration. Sometimes we have been able to change his mind on issues, and sometimes he has changed ours. That’s what board members are supposed to do.

We do not want voters to feel that Jay’s letter accurately describes the man we have come to know on the Planning Board. We believe it does not.
