Patton Park Pool Update

News from the most recent meeting of the Hamilton-Wenham Joint Recreation Committee.

On Monday, August 17th, The Hamilton-Wenham Joint Recreation Committee met and the first topic on the agenda was the new pool. The pool was overwhelmingly approved at both Annual Town Meetings in the spring, provided the cost does not exceed $2 million.

Here’s the latest news:

The committee hopes to meet with the Hamilton Planning Board around September 1 to discuss building plans and receive input from the board and then move on the the Zoning Board of Appeals (ZBA) for site plan review, also hopefully in September.

At about the same time, a Request for Proposals (RFP) will go out to prospective contractors. It had been mistakenly thought by some that the RFP had already gone out, but it was a Request For Qualifications (RFQ), not an RFP. An RFQ does not address pricing bids.

The RFP process is expected to take about three weeks for bidders to respond. In all likelihood, the successful bidder will then be awarded a contract in October.

If everything goes according to plan, construction could begin this fall/winter and the pool could possibly be open in the summer of 2016.

Stay tuned...……
