Pingree Football to Play in Bowl Game at Gillette Stadium

After claiming the Evergreen League title with a perfect 8-0 record, the Pingree School football team will take on the Rivers School on Saturday at Gillette Stadium in the Norm Walker Bowl.

The Pingree School football team is taking its perfect 8-0 record and Evergreen League title to Gillette Stadium on Saturday.

The Highlanders showed dominance on both sides of the ball this year, averaging 40.3 points per game while giving up just 10.8 ppg.

The team is hoping to defend its 2009 Class C title - after earning a victory in the Clark/Francis Bowl last season - in the Norm Walker Bowl this year.

"Playing a Gillette will be a great experience for all the players," said Pingree head coach Chris Powers. "To say you got to play where the NFL's best play is a once in a lifetime experience.  Once the awe has worn off in pregame, I think the excitement of the game will keep our guys ready for the task at hand."

Rivers earned a share of the Independent School League (ISL) Championship this season, also posting an unbeaten 8-0 regular season record.

"Rivers is a good team; we will need to be at our best to compete," Powers said. "We know if we play to our potential it should be a great game to see."

The Highlanders will need to rely on solid play from senior captains Brendan Oliver (Danvers, QB/LB), Will Walfield (Danvers, TB/LB), Brandon Parker (Amesbury, TE/DE), and Brian Rodgers (Topsfield, FB/LB).

Powers also expects senior Kyle Jamerson (WR/DE) of Georgetown and junior Kenny Adinkra (RB/LB) of Lynn to make contributions in the game.

Representing Hamilton on the field for Pingree are juniors Jake Livingston (WR/DB) and John Rawlins (K/WR).

Pingree will be offering fan buses to Gillette for the game on Saturday. Those choosing to drive themselves are directed to park in the cinema parking lot at Patriot Place. Admission to the game is free and the concessions will be open, but fans may also bring their own food and drink into the stadium. Seating will begin at 1 p.m. and tailgating will not be allowed.
