Police Launch Search in Wenham After House Break-in
Wenham police on Monday searched an area of West Wenham after a house break-in was discovered on Maple Street where a door was smashed in.

Wenham police said that the search they conducted on Monday on the west side of town was for a suspect in a home break-in.
Police were called to a home on Maple Street - which runs from west from Topsfield Road (Route 97) to the Danvers town line - at 11:35 a.m. on Nov. 22 because the house alarm was activated, according to a written statement released by Police Chief Kenneth Walsh at about 11 a.m. on Wednesday.
Officer Robert Breaker was the first to arrive and found a rear door that was kicked in. Walsh said some items were taken but police aren't releasing specifics in order to protect the integrity of the investigation.

Breaker was later assisted by Walsh, Capt. Thomas Perkins and Detective Sgt. Mark Fraser plus State Police officers and Essex County Sheriff Deputies, including K9 units.
Police conducted a "diligent search" of the area but didn't locate anyone. Walsh also said that police don't have any suspects at this time and don't have a description of the assailant.

State Police Sgt. Michael Popovics said on Monday that his department assisted Wenham officers but that because Wenham was the lead department on the call he didn't have any more details.
said the incident is a reminder to all residents to keep their house doors locked and to call police if they see any suspicious behavior.
The case continues to be investigated by Wenham Detective Sgt. Mark Fraser, according to the police statement, who is working with other area police departments that have experienced similar house break-ins recently.
