National Honor Society member Brian Rodgers serves on the 16-person committee that has organized the game, which he said it the first powder puff game at the school in at least four years. In the past, the Regional had played Ipswich in a powder puff game leading up to the Thanksgiving Day football game. This year's edition will feature the junior class versus the senior class.

“We normally do a fundraiser and we were thinking about something fun during spirit week,” Rodgers said.

Powder puff football is a high school tradition where girls take to the field to play what is essentially flag football. Sunday's game will be seven versus seven on a 50 yard long field.

“We’ll get to see a reversal of roles,” Rodgers said, noting football players will serve as the coaches.

At last check, the juniors had 15 girls signed up and the seniors had 25 girls signed up.

“The juniors are definitely going to be spread thin in the fourth quarter versus the seniors,” joked Rodgers, a senior.

A Facebook event invitation shows 130 people plan to attend but it is open to the public and Rodgers says “we’re hoping to get some more.”

The one last piece Honor Society organizers are trying to pull together - get some male cheerleaders.

“That should be interesting,” Rodgers said.

The admission charge is $3 for students and $5 for general admission. The proceeds from the game will go towards The Orphan Network and Pennies for Patients.

In addition, the concession stand will be open. Jeff Prince, father of senior Sophie and 2011 graduate Jake will do play-by-play.
