Rollover Driver Released From Hospital

The man who was injured when his car crash on Route 1A early Sunday morning has been released from the hospital.

The Hamilton man who was injured has been released from the hospital, a spokeswoman for in Boston said on Tuesday.

James Wolcott, 22, of 900 Bay Road was taken by medical helicopter to Beth Israel after the 5:55 a.m. crash. said Wolcott was alone and driving north on Bay Road (Route 1A) when he crashed the Volvo sedan he was driving.

The crash happened near 918 Bay Road, just a few doors up from Wolcott’s residence.

After losing control of the car, it slammed through an utility pole, rolled over and came to a stop about 300 feet down the road.

Wolcott was found on the road next to the car and was taken by ambulance to , where a medical helicopter landed and took him to Beth Israel.

It was not known whether Wolcott was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash, Police Lt. Scott Janes said.

Wolcott was charged with operating to endanger, marked lanes violation and speeding in connection to the crash. Janes said on Tuesday that Wolcott will not face any further charges.

Janes said the crash closed Route 1A for about eight hours - into the afternoon - while crews repaired the utility pole that snapped in the crash.

“It was leaning in a way that it was not safe to allow traffic through,” Janes said.

Traffic from the north was diverted down Moulton Street and traffic from the south diverted down Bridge Street. Officers allowed drivers headed to and the for Sunday services to get through, Janes said.
