Stage 284 Brings "High School Musical Jr." to Life
Stage 284 proudly presents "High School Musical Jr.", March 24–31. The production showcases our youth theater education program.
Based on the hit Disney Channel movie, the musical follows Troy, Gabriella, and the students of East High as they challenge social labels and discover that stepping outside your comfort zone can open unexpected doors.
“This show is all about people with different backgrounds coming together,” says Amelia Gibbs from Ipswich. And Lexie Ponikvar of Topsfield agrees, “It’s all about diversity and acceptance and that’s always important.”
While audiences will recognize the story, this production highlights something just as compelling: the talent and dedication of Stage 284’s youth performers. The Rising Stars Company is designed for students in grades 1-8 who are ready to take their training to the next level.

“I’ve been doing shows at Stage 284 for a year now and it has been such a fun experience, I love it here,” adds Gibbs. While this is Ponikvar’s first show with the company, “and I’m never leaving!”
“If your child loves acting, singing, and dancing, our Rising Stars Company is a great way to experience theater in a kind, inclusive environment where they can be part of a full-scale production,” says Noël Cody Mumford, Stage 284 Education Director. “High School Musical Jr. really reflects our program in the best possible way, we’re all in this together!”

Audiences can expect a lively, family-friendly performance filled with relatable characters, positive messages about individuality and teamwork, and the unmistakable nostalgia of a pop-culture favorite. Whether you grew up with the original film or are discovering it for the first time, High School Musical Jr. offers an entertaining night out while supporting the next generation of local performers.
