Thai Forest Monks Offer Meditation Workshop in Gloucester

Free Insight Meditation Workshop and Retreat Offered by Thai Forest Monks and Meditation Masters

Thai Forest Monks Offer Meditation Workshop

Thai Forest monks and meditation masters, Achan Da and Achan Niphen, will give a public talk and lead a one-day insight meditation retreat, on Saturday, July 18, from 9:30AM - 4:00PM at the Lanesville Community Center, 8 Vulcan St, Gloucester (morning-only attendance is also possible). Achan Da has been teaching insight meditation for over 30 years. He served as Abbott of the Thatkong monastery near the Laos border in Thailand, and is now Abbott of the Redding Center for Meditation/Wat Sati-Ma in Redding, CT.

Achan Da and Achan Niphen teach a form of insight meditation, known as Mahasati meditation, that uses attention to the movement of the body as a way to cultivate mindfulness. Mahasati does not require the adoption of any religious beliefs, and the retreat is suitable for both new and experienced meditators. While the day will be conducted mostly in silence, there will be an introductory talk, and short discussion periods in both the morning and afternoon. It is also possible to attend the morning part of the program only. There is no charge to attend, but advance registration is required. For more information, visit: www.MahasatiMeditation.org, or email Michael@MahasatiMeditation.org, or call 978-515-7648.
