Topsfield Man's 2,000 Pound Pumpkin Wins Contest
Like other massive gourds, this pumpkin had to be loaded onto the scale with a forklift truck.

TOPSFIELD, MA — A Topsfield man won the giant pumpkin contest at the annual Topsfield Fair this year. The massive pumpkin tipped the scales at 2,003.5 pounds, according to Wicked Local.
Woody Lancaster was the big winner on Friday, Sept. 9, on the opening day of the fair.
The fair's general manager, Jim O'Brien, said in a Sept. 7 press briefing that these days, with the standards getting higher every year, contestants don't even bother unless their pumpkins are around 2,000 pounds.

It can even be somewhat of a logistical problem getting the pumpkins to the fair and onto the scales. Wicked Local reported that they have to use a forklift truck to get the pumpkins to their place and onto the scales.
