Twice, Disaster Has Prevented Pingree School Teacher From Finishing a Marathon
John Young was hoping to become the first little person to finish the Boston Marathon.

For Pingree School math teacher John Young, yesterday's bombings marked the second time a disaster has prevented him from finishing one of the world's most prestigious marathons.
In November, Hurricane Sandy forced New York City to cancel its marathon. Young, who lives in Salem, had hoped to become the first little person to finish that marathon.
Then came Monday's tragedy. Young and another little person, Juli Windsor of the South End, had sought to become the first of their stature to complete the Boston Marathon.

Young, in an email to Patch, said he is okay and that the race was cancelled when he was about 3/4 of a mile from the finish line.
