Two Women Face Multiple Drug Charges After Allegedly Driving Erratically
A woman from Beverly and another from Groveland are facing multiple drug charges after their car was allegedly swerving on Topsfield Road.

Two women face multiple drug charges after a police officer saw their car allegedly swerving all over Route 97 in Wenham.
The arrests happened at about 9:30 p.m. on Thursday. Kristina Thumm, 46, of 31 Groveland St. in Groveland was allegedly driving a green Oldsmobile northbound. Behind her was Wenham police officer Shane Kavanagh, who saw the Oldsmobile cross the centerline. The first time Thumm corrected but the second time a vehicle headed the other way had to swerve and hit their brakes, according to a police report on the arrest.
Kavanagh stopped the Oldsmobile near the rail trail crossing, not far from the Topsfield and Danvers town lines. After conducting some tests, Thumm was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of drugs. She was also charged with marked lanes violation, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, and possession of Class B drugs (Oxycodone and Adderall).

While the Oldsmobile was stopped on the side of Route 97, police said the passenger, Kimberly J. Ocean, 44, of 30 Wellman St., unit E3. in Beverly, allegedly got out of the car and tried to switch seats with Thumm. Ocean told police that Thumm’s back hurt and she needed to switch seats.
Ocean faces three drug possession charges too. She was charged with possession of a class B drug (Adderall), three charges of possession of a Class C drug (Clonazepam and two counts for possession of Alprazolam) and possession of a Class E drug (Abilify).

Police said they allegedly found a half straw of white, powdery residue in a glass box in front of Ocean on the passenger side of the car, plus half of a Adderall pill on the floor, 11 small yellow, round pills that were Clonazepam, two Adderall pills, two small, white pills that were Abilify and a large, round blue pill and a small, green rectangular tablet that were Alprazolam. Police said Ocean did not have a prescription for any of the drugs.
Thumm was arraigned on Friday in Ipswich District Court and released on $1,500 cash bail. But that came after prosecutors asked Judge Ellen Flatley to hold in her jail because of her pending charges in Haverhill District Court from October 2012 of breaking and entering to commit a felony and assault and battery. While she was not charged with any similar charges in Wenham, police said that during an inventory search of the Oldsmobile they allegedly found a crowbar, hammer, brick and a copy machine.
Flatley denied the prosecutor’s request told hold Thumm in jail.
Ocean was released on $500 cash bail after pleading not guilty. Both women are scheduled to be back in Ipswich District Court on April 25 for a pretrial hearing.
