Wenham Designated High Risk For Coronavirus With 36 New Cases

This is the second straight week of the 'red' community or high risk designation in Wenham.

WENHAM, MA — Wenham was added to the state's list of "red" or high risk communities for the COVID-19 virus. Wenham reported 36 new cases in the last 14 days, according to town-by-town numbers released by the state on Thursday.

Wenham has reported a total of 86 cases of COVID-19 since Jan. 1.

In the last two weeks, Wenham reported a daily incidence rate of 49.4 per every 100,000 residents. In the last two weeks, Wenham reported 38 positive tests with a percent positivity rate of3.71 percent.

Health officials say positive coronavirus test results need to stay below 5 percent for two weeks or longer and, preferably, be closer to 2 percent, for states to safely ease restrictions. Over 100 towns had positive test rates at or above 5 percent over the last two weeks, up from 76 last week.
