Youth Football A Team Captures Super Bowl Win
The Hamilton-Wenham Generals Youth Football A team finished its undefeated season with a win over Danvers in the Cape Ann Youth Football League Super Bowl last weekend.

In a battle between two undefeated teams with unblemished 10-0 records, the Hamilton-Wenham Generals Youth Football A team took on Danvers in the Cape Ann Youth Football (CAYFL) Super Bowl in North Reading last weekend.
After a first half in which both teams sparred like heavy-weights in a title match, the score remained 0-0 at the break.
Kicking the ball to Danvers to start the second half, Hamilton-Wenham held the Falcons to a three-and-out series which would turn the tide of momentum in their favor. Following that stop, the Generals’ Cam Macri broke a tackle and raced 74 yards for the go-ahead score. After failing to convert on the two-point attempt, the Generals’ Nico Serpa booted a deep kick-off to start the Falcons deep in their own territory.

After another staunch defensive effort, Marci again reached the end zone from 15 yards out behind terrific offensive line play. With a successful conversion, the Generals led 14-0 at the end of the third, a deficit that would be too much for the Falcons to overcome. Despite a valiant last effort that resulted in a safety, the Falcons could muster no more than those two points, leading to a final score of 14-2 as the championship trophy headed back to Hamilton-Wenham.
For the Generals, the win would mark the final coaching appearance of Head Coach Paul Drinkwater, who is retiring from the program after 14 years, and countless life lessons passed on to football players in Hamilton and Wenham.
