• HWRS Committee backs budget increase for middle school projects (thereminder.com) — Hampden residents face a higher share of the Hampden-Wilbraham school budget after the School Committee approved a $59.8 million FY27 operating plan that includes $85,719 in upgrades at Wilbraham Middle School. The move could influence Hampden’s fall Town Meeting votes, capital funding for a sander truck and network switches, and how extra state aid offsets the town’s assessment over the next few years. 
• Wales town treasurer faces embezzling, larceny charges (wwlp.com) — A regional veterans’ agency that serves Hampden is under scrutiny after Wales Town Treasurer Rodney Kincaid was arraigned in Hampden Superior Court, accused of embezzling public funds from both Wales and the Eastern Hampden County Veterans’ Service District. Investigators allege more than $188,000 was diverted over several years; Kincaid has pleaded not guilty and returns to court in September.
