The Academy of The Company Theatre to Hold Auditions for School of Rock Youth Musical
Brand new musical based on the famous big screen film

The Academy of The Company Theatre (ACT) announces auditions for actors ages 8 to 17 for their upcoming youth musical production of School of Rock, on Wednesday, January 27 and Thursday, January 28, from 3:45 to 6:00 pm at The Company Theatre Center for the Performing Arts, 30 Accord Park Drive, Norwell. The production will be directed by Zoe Bradford and Jordie Saucerman, with music direction by Melissa Carubia and choreography by Sally Forrest. A headshot is helpful but not required.
Actors should plan to attend both days of auditions, with the first day spent learning song selection, movement and dance, and a script reading for their audition. The cast also calls for musicians who will be asked to audition on their instrument -- keyboards, guitar bass, drums and others. Candidates who audition will not all necessarily be cast.
School of Rock is a brand new musical based on the famous Paramount film, which stars Jack Black. The musical follows Dewey Finn, a failed, wannabe rock star who decides to earn a few extra bucks by posing as a substitute teacher at a prestigious prep school. Completely disinterested in academics, Dewey decides to create his own curriculum, turning his class into a guitar-shredding, bass-slapping, mind-blowing rock band. The Broadway production is produced by Andrew Lloyd Webber, who composed 14 new songs to create a score, which also features all of the original songs from the movie. School of Rock, with its sensational live kids’ rock band, is a loving testimony to the transforming power of music. May the spirit of rock be with you!
