The Academy of The Company Theatre Teen Conservatory to Hold Auditions for Hair
Rock music and 1960's culture in a stage phenomenon

The Academy of The Company Theatre (ACT) Teen Conservatory announces auditions for teen actors ages 14 to 18 for their upcoming production of Hair, book and lyrics by Gerome Ragni and James Rado, music by Galt MacDermot. Auditions will be held Wednesday, September 23 and Thursday, September 24 from 3:30 to 6 pm at The Company Theatre Center for the Arts, 30 Accord Park Drive, Norwell. The production is directed by Jordie Saucerman and Zoe Bradford with choreography by Sally Forrest and music direction by Michael Joseph. A headshot is helpful but not required. Actors should plan to attend both days of auditions, attendance at auditions does not ensure casting.
Hair combines rock music and the era’s culture into a stage phenomenon. Acting as a bridge between generations and viewpoints, a stage filled with incredible freedom organizes to tell the story of 1960’s America. Phenomenal musical numbers include Aquarius, Good Morning Starshine, I Believe in Love, I Got Life, What a Piece of Work Is Man and the title song Hair. Pure joy, exuberance and vitality are at the heart of this now classic piece, set against the serious backdrop of the Vietnam War and a country in turmoil. Hair allows the audience to relive or newly discover the age of Aquarius. Some material has been edited to suit this teen production.
Performances of Hair will be held January 22, 23, and 24, 2016. Tickets will be available at www.companytheatre.com.

Rehearsals are held from 3:30 to 6:00 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays during the production season. Attendance is required the entire week during tech week. Tuition for the classes and production is $385 per student, due after the casting announcement, some scholarships are available. A completed emergency form must accompany audition candidates, available at www.companytheatre.com/emergencyform.pdf.
ACT was founded in 1987 by Zoe Bradford, Michael Joseph and Jordie Saucerman, with a mission to discover the creative spirit in each child in an enjoyable and challenging atmosphere and to build self-confidence through the experience of the arts.
