Today's riddle: What is full of holes but still holds water? 🤔 (Answer below!)
• Way Back Wednesday: Train Crosses Hingham Square (hinghamanchor.com) — Take a look back at 1940s Hingham Square, when the sleek Comet train still crossed street level between the old Lincoln Building and the original railroad station. The piece traces how both buildings were lost and rebuilt, the tracks lowered 20 feet, and how a model of the Comet now lives at Bare Cove Park's South Shore Model Railroad Club Museum.
• Jack Smith And Andrew Weissmann To Headline 2026 Virginia Tay Memorial Lecture Series (hinghamanchor.com) — Hingham residents are invited to a free Virginia Tay Memorial Lecture on the rule of law featuring former federal prosecutors Jack Smith and Andrew Weissmann at Old Ship Meeting House on Sept. 12. Co-sponsored by the Hingham Historical Commission and the Town of Hingham, the reserved-seating event honors preservationist Virginia Tay's legacy and aims to engage South Shore neighbors in civic and legal issues.
• Bridgewater finally reached the top of the mountain (sungazette.com) — Bridgewater's 12U Little League team finally broke through longtime rival Hingham to win the Section 2 title, then went on to capture state and New England championships and reach the Little League World Series. The story highlights how repeated losses to Hingham fueled Bridgewater's determination, culminating in a historic run that now represents Massachusetts on the national stage.
