"In this year’s Tour, we trace the comparatively slow transformation of Hingham from rural outpost in the 17th century, through the growth of its marine trades and small cottage industries in the 18th and 19th centuries, to its more rapid development into a fashionable streetcar suburb in the late 19th and early 20th centuries," the Hingham Historical website stated.
The tours will be offered September 21 and 22 from 10 a.m. to 4 pm for $25 per person at the Hingham Historical Society/Old Derby Academy Building. Tickets the day of the tour will cost $30. Tickets can be purchased on the HHS website.
Susan Harris of the Hingham Historic Society said this weekend's event is the largest fundraiser of the year for the HHS and the weather is expected to be perfect for the tour.
