Hingham Ambulance Collides With Jeep, Causes Five-Car Accident
While a Hingham Fire Department Ambulance raced to the scene of an accident, it was struck by a jeep at the intersection of Route 53 and Cushing Street.
On Monday evening, the Hingham Fire Department Ambulance was struck by a vehicle while responding to a car crash on Derby Street, causing a five-vehicle accident.
According to Sgt. Steven Dearth, the ambulance was traveling south on Cushing Street at approximately 6:35 p.m. through the intersection of Route 53 when it was struck by a 2005 Jeep Cherokee traveling east on Whiting Street (Route 53). The impact of the crash forced the Jeep into a 2010 Nissan Sentra that was in the left turn lane on Cushing Street, Dearth said. The Nissan was pushed backward into a 2007 Chrysler 300 that was behind it on Cushing Street. The ambulance then struck a 2005 Honda Civic that was in the right lane on Cushing Street.
