Bites Nearby: Nona's Homemade Ice Cream
Bites Nearby is a weekly column by Patch's resident foodie, Christine Cassis, investigating the best dishes in and around Hingham, Mass.
Spring is in the air and it just wouldn't be fair to not mention
The Main Street ice cream shop is celebrating 10 years of creamy creations like coffee Oreo and the intense coconut almond. If you're not the adventurous type, don't fret! Nona's is always scooping up vanilla, strawberry, and yes, even plain ol' regular chocolate chip. Word of advice: It pays to be daring, for instance, the Johnny B. Good is a cinnamon flavored ice cream with oatmeal cookie pieces. It's rich and flavorful. Add some chocolate sprinkles and you're good to go!
The shop has generous portions, and while it is a little pricier, remember: it is homemade. They accept credit cards, too, just in case you're short a couple of bucks. Plenty of parking and smoothies if you're trying to be good. Be prepared to be a little overwhelmed, because Nona has many choices.

Beyond the delicious treats, Nona's service is the tops. Nona's caters via ice cream truck. Whether it's a birthday party, baseball game or even a wedding, Nona's has a Twitter account and a web site, so check it out and have dessert.
