5 Ways to Happy Not Hectic Holidays
Got stress this holiday season? Here are 5 tips to help you enjoy happy not hectic holidays.

As the holidays approach, so does the stress! Although a joyous time of year, the season is full of shopping, parties, and family obligations. All of which may lead to extra stress physically, emotionally and financially. Below are 5 quick tips to ensure that your holiday season is a happy not hectic one.
- Readjust your schedule. Trying to fit a workout into a hectic holiday schedule? The routine you are used to is off, so you’ll want to adjust your activities accordingly. You may need to find a new time to get your workout in or perhaps you’ll need to cut it a bit short. Be flexible during this time of year, and understand it’s only temporary. Keep in mind that if you remain active, even if it’s part-time, you won’t be starting from scratch when you do get back to your regular routine.
- Set priorities. Figure out what is important to you, and what really needs to get done. Set your priorities and be satisfied with your decisions. Maybe you want to attend the work holiday party instead of the gym. Let’s face it, holiday parties are fun, the gym typically is not! Be happy with your decision to attend the party and commit to yourself that you’ll get your workout in the next day.
- Remember NO is a word. So much to do and time is running out to complete your shopping, cooking, and cleaning. If you get another party invitation you’re going to scream. It’s all too much! Did you know it is OK TO SAY NO? You physically cannot do it all, and keeping some time set aside to take care of yourself – whether for exercise or simply some quiet “me” time – is so important during these busy months. Remember to take care of yourself while you continue to care for everyone else.
- Ask for help. Ask your spouse, children, or others that you trust to help out. Have them pick up toys, clothes and other clutter around the house. You can even send them to the grocery store with a detailed list. You don’t need to take on the holiday challenges alone. Find support and ask for help. You’ll be glad that you did.
- Shop online. Start shopping early and you won’t ever have to go into the mall. Just about every store in the mall has an online version. Take advantage of a quiet evening at home and get your shopping done with the click of a mouse. Most online stores even offer a gift wrapping service. Think of all the extra time you’ll have to do things you really want and stay fit!
