Call for Entries for Instagram Art Show at the James Library
Snapping smartphone shots and perfecting photos with image apps have driven Instagram to the latest photographic art form.

The James Library is currently accepting Instagram photo submissions for an innovative exhibit, art sale and party: In an Instant: Instagram Art Show. Submissions are accepted from the general public in October to appear at the show opening party on Friday, November 7, from 7 to 9 pm, at The James Library & Center for the Arts, 24 West Street, Norwell.
Instagram is the latest platform for the next generation of photographers, both amateur and pro, to showcase their creativity. In a first of-its-kind event for the James’ Art Gallery, In an Instant: Instagram Art Show takes artist’s cloud-based images offline and adds the third dimension of exhibition display throughout November. All works will be available for purchase, a portion of the proceeds benefits The James Library’s historic preservation fund. The event is generously sponsored by Norwell-based Hub International New England insurance brokers and consultants.
To submit entries, Instagram photographers are invited to purchase up to 4 Ampersand 6x6” clayboard cradle frames at the James Library. Each frame costs $10, serving as the entry fee to exhibit in the show, and includes free admission to the opening night party. For complete information on how to submit photos, visit www.jameslibrary.org.
